About Old Bridge Restaurant & Bar
Old Bridge Restaurant & Bar was established in 1999 and is one of the oldest restaurants in Somerset West. It has now taken on new owners who hope to revive this phenomenal landmark and make it a home away from home for those wanting a friendly atmosphere to relax and unwind.
This friendly restaurant and pub is currently owned by Gillian Visagie, her husband Gideon Visagie and Johlene Smith. Collectively, they’re passionate about providing customers with a happy tummy, a variety of thirst-quenchers and a wholesome experience in the beautiful setting of the Old Bridge Restaurant & Bar.
Gillian is a born and bred Helderberg local, who has worked in the service industry since the age of 15, worked on cruise liners for 7 years, and graduated in Hospitality Management through the International Hotel School. Gideon has been living in Somerset West for the last 15 years, who has also worked abroad for a period of time as a project manager and now fully committed to running Old Bridge Tavern. Johlene, like Gillian, is a born and bred Helderberg local and has worked in finance all her life for big companies such as Appletizer. Between the 3 of them, they have finance, operations and service covered to the max!
Walking into Old Bridge Restaurant & Bar in Somerset West, you’ll be met by passionate staff members and an outstanding scenery. Look out for the iconic bridge, which happens to be the second oldest bridge in South Africa, with a lively flow of water streaming below.
